The challenge

From legacy banking to life-centric digital

When Bank Jago, originally Bank Artos Indonesia, rebranded and began its transformation in 2020, it wanted to move from a traditional setup to a fully digital, cloud-native model.

Indonesia’s banking market is highly competitive, with digital-first players and fintechs setting new standards for speed and customer experience.

To compete, Bank Jago needed a flexible core that could support rapid product development, scale securely, and comply with strict local regulations around data residency.

In early 2020, Bank Jago selected Mambu’s composable core banking platform as the foundation for its transformation. It became the first organisation in Indonesia to benefit from the global partnership between Mambu and Google Cloud, deploying in the Jakarta region to comply with local data residency rules while operating fully in the cloud. Mambu’s SaaS core was implemented in just seven months, giving Bank Jago the speed and flexibility to bring to market a full, modern retail banking suite including daily banking, savings, transactions and payments, as well as lending. This enabled them to bring these services to market far faster than with a traditional setup.

Soon after in 2021, Bank Jago introduced its mobile app, the Jago App, designed around the principle of life-centric banking. Features such as shared accounts and group money management allowed customers to plan and save together, reflecting the social and collaborative way money is often managed in Indonesia.

The result

Profitable growth, global recognition

Bank Jago’s migration to Mambu marked the launch of a truly digital bank, which has since delivered measurable growth and market impact.

By the first half of 2025 customer numbers reached 18 million, of which 13.7 million were funding and deposit users.

Total assets climbed to IDR 32.4 trillion, and net profit more than doubled, Bank Jago continued to demonstrate both sustainable growth and financial strength.

This performance has been recognised internationally.

Forbes named Bank Jago one of the world’s best banks for the fourth consecutive year in 2025, ranking it as Indonesia’s top tech-based bank.

The renewal of the partnership with Mambu in mid-2025 for an additional three years underscores its importance in Bank Jago’s success.

With Mambu, the bank gains the scalability and resilience needed to support its rapid growth trajectory and sets the foundation for the next stage of expansion across the region.
